About the index

The Nigeria Digital Governance Index is an initiative of Reformers’ Initiative for Development in Africa. It examines how state governments use digital platforms for governance and public service.

The initiative

Better evidence. Better public service.

The Nigeria Digital Governance Index (NDGI) offers a structured view of state-level digital presence, information, services and public engagement.

It is an initiative of Reformers’ Initiative for Development in Africa. The index is intended to make comparative assessment accessible to policymakers, researchers, civic organisations and residents.

Its purpose is to make public-facing digital government easier to examine, compare and improve, not to reduce a state’s entire performance to a single number.

Reading responsibly

A starting point for better questions.

Scores should be read alongside the methodology and any published evidence in each state profile. The four pillars and sixteen measures show what was observed through public-facing channels at the time of assessment.

Results do not explain why a state performs as it does, account for all differences in resources or prove outcomes for every resident.
